Prime Video announced the release date and revealed first-look images for the upcoming psychological thriller Dead Ringers, which stars Rachel Weisz as OBGYN twins Beverly and Elliot Mantle. The limited series comprises six episodes and is set to premiere on April 21 exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. Weisz is also an executive producer on the show.
The series is a modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 film of the same name. It features Weisz playing the double-lead roles of Elliot and Beverly, twins who challenge antiquated medical practices to bring women’s healthcare to the forefront.
The show also features an ensemble cast, including Britne Oldford, Poppy Liu, Michael Chernus, Jennifer Ehle, and Emily Meade. Sean Durkin directed the first two episodes and co-directed the last episode of the series and is also an executive producer on the show.
Dead Ringers is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Annapurna Television, with Alice Birch serving as the showrunner and an executive producer, alongside Rachel Weisz, Stacy O’Neil, Sue Naegle, and Sean Durkin. The show is also executive produced by Erica Kay, Anne Carey, Polly Stokes, Ali Krug, James G. Robinson, David Robinson, and Barbara Wall on behalf of Morgan Creek.
