Mattel is developing a live-action feature film inspired by the 3-D View-Master toy.

Mattel is collaborating with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Escape Artists to create a live-action film inspired by its classic 3-D View-Master toy.

Since its launch in 1939, View-Master has captivated both children and adults. This stereoscopic viewing device has become a cherished childhood classic, inviting fans worldwide into a realm of 3-D imagery that fuels imagination and storytelling for every adventure enthusiast.

“View-Master has inspired generations to embark on boundless adventures, offering a treasure trove of storytelling possibilities for this film,” said Robbie Brenner, President of Mattel Films. “We’re thrilled to work with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Escape Artists’ Todd Black to bring this Mattel franchise to life. Their creative and filmmaking expertise sets the stage to introduce a modern take on this beloved toy to audiences everywhere.”

Mattel is also collaborating with Escape Artists to create the upcoming live-action film of Masters of the Universe, inspired by the iconic Mattel franchise. Kevin McKeon and Arturo Thur de Koós from Mattel Films. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Tony Shaw from Escape Artists (The Pursuit of Happyness, Fences) are set to produce.

Led by two-time Academy Award-nominee Robbie Brenner, Mattel Films aims to work with top filmmakers to produce high-quality movies that celebrate Mattel’s iconic brands, ensuring they resonate culturally and connect with global audiences.
