Knives Out UNTITLED introduction

In January 2020, Rian Johnson confirmed that he was writing a sequel to the hit Knives Out movie. Daniel Craig had already expressed interest in reprising his role. On February 6, 2020, Lionsgate announced that a sequel had been approved. In March 2021, it was reported that Netflix had agreed to pay over $450 million for the rights to two Knives Out sequels to be written and directed by Rian Johnson with Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc.

In May 2021, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., and Kate Hudson signed on to the sequel in undisclosed roles. In June 2021, Madelyn Cline and Jessica Henwick were added to the cast.

Knives Out 2 will head directly to Netflix.

Lead Daniel Craig gives a Knives Out 2 update. October 12, 2021

Daniel Craig told Empire:

“I’m so lucky to have Rian [Johnson] in my life. He’s such a great writer. That script arrived and I was literally like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I couldn’t believe that he wanted me to play it. I was going, ‘It says Southern accent you went here. Really?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah?’ We’ve just finished the second one, literally weeks ago. They’ve just wrapped up in Serbia. Dare I say it’s better? We’ll see. I don’t want to tempt fate. It’s different, and that’s the amazing thing. It’s still a Benoit Blanc mystery, but it’s very different. I’m very excited about it.”

Filming wraps up on Knives Out 2. September 13, 2021

Director Rian Johnson announced a wrap for Knives Out 2 via Twitter today.

“We just wrapped production on the next Benoit Blanc mystery and also I finally watched Annette and holy shit it’s amazing. Sending so much love and gratitude to our INCREDIBLE crew and cast and Leos Carax!”

Filming in Greece wraps up. Production halfway complete. August 1, 2021

Writer/Director Rian Johnson confirmed that filming in Greece has wrapped.

“Just about halfway through our shoot, that’s a wrap on Greece! Thanks to all the wonderful folks here and our local crew, who killed it. (Metaphorically, not a spoiler)”

Knives Out UNTITLED has begun filming in Greece – and we got a picture from the set.

The Knives Out sequel has begun filming! Writer and Director Rian Johnson announced in a tweet:

“Aaaaaaand We’re Off! Day one of filming on the next Benoit Blanc mystery. Thanks to all the lovely patient people here in Greece for letting us do all this murdering on their peaceful shores.”

In addition, Backgrid got a pic of Benoit Blanc on the set wearing a tweed sports suit. A different look for Blanc, for sure.
