Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s beloved How to Train Your Dragon franchise is making a comeback, but this time as a live-action adaptation of the original animated series. This project will be led by Dean DeBlois, the filmmaker who was previously nominated for three Oscars and won a Golden Globe for his work on the animated series. DeBlois will write, direct, and produce the latest entry in the franchise.
How to Train Your Dragon follows the story of Hiccup, a young Viking who befriends a dragon named Toothless and learns that there is more to these creatures than meets the eye. The franchise, spanning three movies, has grossed over $1.6 billion and has garnered four Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe.
