Two 12-year-old Waukesha, Wisconsin girls have been arrested after a vicious knife attack against a 12-year-old friend. The victim was stabbed 19 times but thankfully, is expected to recover from her wounds (one wound missed a major artery near her heart by a millimeter). Officials believe the pair spent several months planning their May 31, 2014, attack and that they believed by killing the young girl, they would prove to Slenderman that they were “worthy” and gain favor from the mysterious demonic entity. Slenderman is a tall, faceless, grotesquely skinny figure rumored to capture and shuffle kids off in the night.
One of the girls told investigators they decided to kill their friend so they could become “proxies” of the Slenderman (according to popular legend, to become a “proxy” of Slenderman, and show your devotion to the demonic creature, you must commit murder). The second girl told police that she routinely sees “Slender Man” in her dreams.
The girls believed that after murdering their friend, Slenderman would let them live with him in his mansion in the Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin. The girls told Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack that had they not murdered the girl, Slenderman “would have killed their families”. Both girls had backpacks ready and planned to hike into the forest after the killing to “prove the skeptics wrong” and show that Slenderman is real and not a mythological creature.
According to the AP report:
“After school on May 30th, Morgan and Anissa packed and met up with their friend/victim and headed off to Skateland until 9:30PM when they returned to Morgan’s home for an impromptu sleepover party. The plan was to kill the girl while she was sleeping around 2:00 AM, but for some unknown reason they decided against it. Instead, the following day, all three girls went to Davids Park In the park bathroom, Morgan handed Anissa a knife she’d grabbed before leaving home. Anissa said she couldn’t do it and had a breakdown. The trio decided to play hide and seek then, during which Morgan tackled the victim and stabbed her repeatedly. They fled on foot to Wal-Mart while their victim crawled for her life to Big Bend Road.”
Neighbors and friends of the girls’ families say the girls came from good families and told reporters the violent attack was not characteristic of the girls nor their families. Many said they have no idea what caused the girls to commit such an evil act. 15-year-old Emily Edwards baby-sat one of the girls for about two years. She told The Associated Press that the girl seemed to be a well-adjusted child who was never mean or violent.
“She was completely normal, nothing off about her. She was very sociable, friendly, outgoing which is what makes this whole thing so weird.”
A neighbor told reporters:
“Anyone who knows them knows these are good people, a normal middle-class family. It just goes to show, no matter how hard you try to instill good morals, good values, things can still go wrong.”
While another close neighbor said:
“They’re very nice. I can’t say anything bad about them. I just feel sorry for the parents. I just don’t know how they can handle this. It’s just unbelievable.”
The two girls are being charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide and could face up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
Anyone remember the movie “the tall man”? this also rings of something called “the rake”
