About The Flash movie

The Flash movie has had an incredibly long road to finally going into production. Back in April 2015, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were hired to write a story treatment with the hope that they would direct, but the duo departed to take the helm of Solo: A Star Wars Story instead. Ezra Miller remained attached to star, having been cast as The Flash for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In October 2015 Dark Shadows screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write the script and direct. Grahame-Smith was them removed from the project in April 2016, with WB wanting to take the film in a different direction. Rick Famuyiwa was hired as his replacement. Famuyiwa cast Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and Billy Crudup as Flash’s father Harry Allen, but by August 2016, Famuyiwa departed the project over creative differences.

While the film was supposed to start filming in early 2017, Famuyiwa’s exit threw a wrench into WB’s plans and the studio opted to slow things down while Miller went off to shoot Fantastic Beasts 2. Joby Harold (King Arthur) came on to do a page-one rewrite of the script, and in May 2017 Robert Zemeckis and Matthew Vaughn surfaced as WB’s top choices to direct. The studio revealed in July 2017 that the film would be titled Flashpoint, indicating the story will be adapting the famous comics arc that sees Barry going back into the past to save his mother’s life, thus creating an alternate timeline. Speculation then began that this Flashpoint twist could allow WB to “fix” some issues in the DCEU by altering the timeline.

In March 2019, a report surfaced there was creative tension between Miller’s vision (darker, gritter) and Daley and Goldstein’s vision (lighter, more fun), to the point that Warner Bros. allowed Miller to write a version of the script himself with the help of Grant Morrison to show what his take would look like. The implication was that if Warner Bros. wasn’t happy with the script Miller created, he could be out as Flash.

Filming on this potentially cursed project finally began in April 2021. The movie will introduce the multiverse to DC movies and will find Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman from Tim Burton’s film, with Ben Affleck also returning as Batman. The film will introduce Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ron Livingston takes over the role of Barry’s father Henry Allen from Billy Crudup, who departed over scheduling conflicts. Andy Muschietti will direct the film.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on November 4, 2022.

The two Batman-related themes—“I Am Batman” and “Sounds About Right, Bruce”—are the latest music to be released from the upcoming The Flash (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which features the music of celebrated two-time GRAMMY- and BAFTA-nominated composer Benjamin Wallfisch (the “IT” films, “Shazam,” “Blade Runner 2049” [with Hans Zimmer]). Two previous tracks from the upcoming album, “Worlds Collide” and “Run,” were made available two weeks ago. All four pieces of music are now available for streaming (Standard and Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio configurations) and digital purchase, and will be on the soundtrack, scheduled for release the same day as director Andy Muschietti’s “The Flash”—the DC Super Hero’s first-ever standalone feature film—is set to open in theaters in North America, June 16, 2023.

Fans may recognize the familiar tune of “I Am Batman,” upon hearing it in “The Flash”. Composer Benjamin Wallfisch, a longtime DC fan, wanted to pay tribute to Danny Elfman’s “The Batman Theme” by incorporating it into the score when Michael Keaton appears on screen. Wallfisch aimed to honor the original theme while also reinventing it for the film. He created different variations of the iconic six notes, which can be heard in the music as Easter Eggs. Wallfisch also composed a new theme for Ben Affleck’s Batman, which has a different approach than the original. Affleck’s theme captures the intensity of his character, but with a ton of propulsion and forward motion, fitting for the world of The Flash. In addition, a new theme connecting Affleck and Keaton’s Batman characters in the movie was created, which can be heard at key moments in the story.

First The Flash trailer debuts during Super Bowl LVII. February 12, 2023

The latest trailer for The Flash has just been released, showcasing the Scarlet Speedster’s journey through DC’s Multiverse. Starring Ezra Miller as the hero, the movie was developed prior to the restructuring of the DC Extended Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The trailer, which debuted during the Super Bowl, outlines the main plot of the upcoming film. The Flash, also known as Barry Allen, uses his super-speed powers to travel back in time and save his mother, who was murdered when he was a child. This action inadvertently causes disruptions in the timeline, leading Barry to alternate dimensions where he struggles to differentiate between friends and foes.

The movie is based on the popular Flashpoint comics storyline, which completely reimagined the DC universe. As Gunn and Safran have disclosed, The Flash will similarly restructure the DCU, helping to reset the universe and focus on characters that fit the “Gods and Monster” narrative. Despite the soft-reboot, Gunn has expressed his admiration for the upcoming film and assured fans that it will be a memorable cinematic event, further emphasizing its significance in the superhero genre.

Ezra Miller once again turns into a pompous little bitch after bar patrons interrupt his quiet time by singing karaoke. March 30, 2022

This doesn’t bode well for what to expect with Ezra Miller’s burgeoning career. Miller was arrested in Hawaii for disorderly conduct and harassment at bar. Apparently Miller took offense as patrons disturbing his quiet time by sing karaoke. The notice was posted on Hawaii Police Department’s Facebook page along with this photo of an unkempt Miller smirking at the camera.

“Shortly after midnight on Monday, March 28, 2022, a 29-year-old man visiting from Vermont was arrested and charged for disorderly conduct and harassment after an incident at a bar in Hilo.

On Sunday, March 27, at 11:30 p.m., South Hilo patrol officers responded to a report of disorderly patron at a bar on Silva Street. During the course of their investigation, police determined that the man, later identified as Ezra Miller, became agitated while patrons at the bar began singing karaoke. Miller began yelling obscenities and at one point grabbed the microphone from a 23-year-old woman singing karaoke (disorderly conduct offense) and later lunged at a 32-year-old man playing darts (harassment offense). The bar owner asked Miller to calm down several times to no avail.

Miller was arrested and charged on both offenses and total bail was set at $500. He provided the bail and was released.”

This isn’t the first time Ezra Miller has lost it in public. Back in 2020, a video of the actor choking a woman circulated online. This also reportedly happened after a conflict at a bar, when fans got pushy with the actor out in public.

The Flash release date pushed to 2023. March 9, 2022

According to Variety, “The Flash,” starring Ezra Miller, is now set to drop on June 16, 2023. It was last slated to be released in December 2022.

Ben Affleck confirms The Flash will be his last appearance as Batman. January 7, 2021

In a recent interview with the Herald Sun, Ben Affleck confirmed that The Flash will be the last time he appears on screen as The Caped Crusader. Still, he feels his role as The Dark Knight in The Flash will mark some of his best Batman work.

“I have never said this – this is hot off the presses – but maybe my favorite scenes in terms of Batman and the interpretation of Batman that I have done, were in the Flash movie. I hope they maintain the integrity of what we did because I thought it was great and really interesting – different, but not in a way that is incongruent with the character.”

Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water, Knives Out) added to The Flash movie cast. December 22, 2021

You had to be paying close attention to a new 2022 movie preview released by Warner Bros. that revealed Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water, Knives Out) will be making his DCEU return in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash. Shannon’s first run in the DCEU was as General Zod in 2013’s Man of Steel and again briefly when Zod was bought back as Doomsday by Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The official cast list for The Flash also features Antje Traue, who appeared as Faora-Ul, General Zod’s right hand in Man of Steel, who ended up imprisoned in the Phantom Zone in the film. While it would make sense to assume that Michael Shannon is playing the character again now in The Flash, it’s not yet known if he will reprise the role of Zod.

The Flash has completed after five months of filming in the UK. October 18, 2021

Filmmaker Andy Muschietti took to Instagram to announce production on The Flash has completed. He also included two new set photos with the announcement.

“What an adventure. Thanks to all of the crew and cast of THE FLASH for giving your very best every single day.”

The Flash trailer revealed at DC Fandome. October 16, 2021

With just not enough footage for a real trailer, DC FanDome showed off a sneak peek of Andy Muschietti’s The Flash movie. Check out the video below courtesy Warner Bros. Pictures.

The clip confirms we’ll see the Dark Knight but it’s shot from behind so we are not sure if it’s Michael Keaton’s version of Batman (which has been promised). The ending shows us Flash pulling the sheet off what is clearly the Batmobile.

We also see that Barry has met different versions of himself along with Supergirl (Sasha Calle). We hear Keaton’s Bruce Wayne speaking to Barry while the montage plays. We even see Barry return to his home where his mother (Maribel Verdu) is still alive.

The Flash is looking more and more like it’ll be a blockbuster when it hits theaters in November.

The Flash nears the end of filming. September 28, 2021

Producer Barbara Muschietti revealed today that filming for The Flash is nearing completion.

“So close we can taste it… sweatpants, coffee, and dark deep purple circles.”

Director Andy Muschietti releases confusing Batman logo. September 19, 2021

Color us confused over this one. The Flash Director Andy Muschietti posted an unusual mash-up on Instagram that featured the Batman logo overlaid with The Flash color scheme and lightning bolt. We have to wonder what this means within the context of the film. Check it out below.

Photos from set show Flash’s new suit is a mixture of practical and CGI. July 30, 2021

A new photo leaked to social media today that gives us a glimpse, if we can even call it that, of Flash’s new suit. It’s clear from the photo below that the suit will mostly be filled in with CGI. We’re not sure if this is the norm for filming or a means to keep his suit under wraps while filming in public.

No sooner do we post first-look pics of the new Batcycle, than production stops after a crewmembers gets injured by it. July 29, 2021

Production on The Flash in Glasgow was halted today after a camera operator was injured by the Batcycle during filming of a chase scene. The cameraman was on a motorcycle shooting the Batcycle from behind while traveling at a considerable speed when he crashed into the Batcycle stuntman and went under the massive Batcycle. The cameraman was taken to a nearby hospital.

The Flash is currently filming in Glasgow, Scotland where a Batcycle was captured on film by journalist David Pratt. It’s pretty clear from the frame capture above that the driver is a Ben Affleck stunt double because, well, who else but a professional stunt man could drive that beast!

Or how about this view of the new vehicle. Clearly Batman’s cape and the front wheel will be added via CGI in post-production. Notice that this is the same Batsuit Affleck wore in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The question now is, why a Batcycle? Maneuverability or because the Batmobile was destroyed in both versions of Justice League?

Fan photos from Glasgow hint at various unexpected entities in The Flash. (July 25, 2021)

Eagle-eyed fans in Glasgow are snapping up all sorts of pics of the sets being created around the city. It’s pretty clear the city being built atop Glasgow is Gotham City but which Gotham City? One set of photos shows buses labelled “Gotham Transit Authority” (the word “Gotham” was covered by tape). However, the license plate on the vehicle says “Central City”? Another vehicle sported the name “Zeus Lightings”.

Let the speculation begin! Unusual photos from The Flash set show a mysterious new character who looks remarkably similar to Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen. (July 20, 2021)

New photos from the set of The Flash emerged on Twitter today. They show a mysterious character interacting with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen. The actor looks remarkably similar to Miller and with the green CGI rod and tracker hanging above his head, it’s easy to surmise this is a scene of some sort of Barry Allen double (from an alternate universe?).

Leaked photos of Batcave set and Batmobile scrubbed from social media. (July 18, 2021)

New set photos that reveal the new Batcave and Batmobile have been efficiently scrubbed from social media. The photos showed a reconstructed Batcave, as well as the return of the classic 1989 Batmobile. Do we have the photos? Of course. Can we show them to you? Not without drawing the wrath of DC. Sorry, but here’s all we can get away with without DC cancelling all of our comic book subscriptions.

The Flash will be one of DC’s most important entries in part due to the sheer number of characters it will have. The film will see Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton return as their respective versions of Batman. Sasha Calle will debut as Supergirl.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3, 2022.
