The 80-Year romance between Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle continues in new Batman/Catwoman series from DC Comics.

Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle have rekindled their long-running, on-again, off-again relationship in a new series from DC Comics. Believing all obstacles are removed from their path, they once again begin operating as a crime-fighting duo in their secret lives. In Batman/Catwoman, a crime story told across three separate timelines, writer Tom King, and artists Clay Mann and Tomeu Morey return to the romantic saga of Batman and Catwoman, continuing the story they began in the pages of Batman!

The three timelines include the past, when The Bat and The Cat first fell in love. Did they meet on the street? Or was it on a boat? Rooftops, ramparts and gargoyles, and over 80 years of fans that have read their comics, are their only witnesses.

Then there’s the distant future timeline, where after a long and happy marriage Bruce Wayne has passed away. Selina Kyle decides to settle an old score without having to worry about the Batman objecting. Catwoman is serving a very cold dish to her enemies: Revenge.

And finally, in the present, Bruce and Selina’s union is threatened by the arrival of one of Batman’s past flings, Andrea Beaumont, a.k.a. Phantasm. Beaumont’s return calls into question how each character chooses to operate in their costumed, and personal, lives, and any move by Phantasm could change the fate of Bruce and Selina’s future.

The only other person besides Bruce and Selina to have been along for the whole ride has been the Joker, and what he did in the past is going to have direct consequences on today and tomorrow. Batman’s greatest foe will intervene any time Batman and Catwoman try to take steps towards peace. Any change in the Caped Crusader’s life will be matched with the chaos of the Clown Prince of Crime. …and the Joker’s not leaving any witnesses. Not even a gargoyle. Will Selina make good on her final kill?

Batman/Catwoman, by Tom King, Clay Mann, Tomeu Morey and Clayton Cowles, edited by Jamie S. Rich and Brittany Holzherr, will launch a 12-issue run on December 1, 2020, with a cover by Mann and Morey and a variant cover by Travis Charest plus a variant cover by Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair. New issues will ship monthly with a skip month planned for a Batman/Catwoman Special in June 2021, and the series will carry DC’s Black Label content descriptor, indicating content appropriate for readers ages 17+.

DC celebrates 1,000 issues of Batman with graphic novel-sized Detective Comics #1027 and “virtual collector cards”.

1 batman

Batman comics has hit the one thousand issue mark. By any way of measuring, that’s quite a milestone, and the graphic novel-sized Detective Comics #1027 is a fitting tribute. Featuring contributions from dozens of the best, most character-defining writers and artists to ever spend time on the Bat, Detective Comics #1027 is truly a comic for collectors.

In that same spirit, DC Comics has created a series of virtual collector cards to celebrate this momentous new release. Each card celebrates a pivotal first appearance that took place in the pages of Detective Comics over the years. Batman, Gordon, Robin, Peguin, the Riddler, Two-Face—they’re all here (though not Catwoman or the Joker—they both debuted in the pages of Batman).

DC Comics released the first eight cards in this week’s new comics, and you can find all the rest on the DC and DC Nation Instagram and Twitter accounts. Or you can find all 27 cards in the gallery below.

Detective Comics #1027 will be available worldwide in print and as a digital comic on Tuesday, September 15th.

DC launches new digital first, Represent, to showcase and introduce new and rising creators. First chapter available for free.

REPRESENT 01 300 1 5f57b39e3bbca5.12179519

Today DC Comics proudly announced a new digital-first series, Represent! The first chapter, “It’s a Bird” by Christian Cooper, Alitha E. Martinez, Mark Morales, Emilio Lopez, and Rob Clark Jr., is available now, offered for free on participating digital platforms including readdc.com, Comixology, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and more. Additional chapters of Represent! will be available digitally in 2021.

DC Comics Executive Editor Marie Javins said,

“This digital series is designed to showcase and introduce creators traditionally underrepresented in the mainstream comic book medium. We’ll highlight both new and familiar voices, beginning with ‘It’s a Bird’ by writer Christian Cooper and artist Alitha E. Martinez, a semi-fictionalized account of Christian’s very real evolution from a kid with a pair of binoculars to a man in an unexpected media spotlight after an altercation with a woman walking her dog in Central Park.”

DC Comics – Executive Editor Marie Javins

In Cooper and Martinez’s story, Jules, a Black teenager, is given a pair of old binoculars as he heads out for a morning of bird-watching.

“I hope young people read it in particular, and that they’re inspired to keep the focus where it needs to be, which is on those we have lost and how we keep from losing more,” said Cooper, while Martinez added, “I wish this story could have been that punctuation of, ‘…and we all lived happily ever after.’ But it just keeps coming.”

DC Comics – Executive Editor Marie Javins

“It’s a Bird,” edited by Marie Javins and Liz Erickson, is available now, offered for free only on participating digital platforms, including readdc.com, Comixology, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and more. Look for more from DC’s Represent! storytellers in 2021.

Heather Nuhfer and P.C. Morrissey team up in this fun story about game night with the Titans!

The Titans have a regular game of Basements and Basilisks, but when the basement boss (Robin, of course) tries to make the game super fun by making it super-impossible to win, the team rebels. Their new BB is much more fun—and she actually lets them complete their quests, which is excellent motivation to keep playing. But the Boy Wonder begins to worry that the Titans will be trapped in their imaginations forever, going on endless, easy-breezy quests, neglecting their duties in Jump City.

There might also be problems with the campaign’s most important relic, the “Anklet of Extreme Crushing (and Chafing),” which Robin has tightly clasped to his leg.

Word on the street is huge character changes for Superman are about to hit the DC comic line.

Superman The Man of Steel Issue #1 Cover

There are some pretty wild rumors hitting the streets regarding huge character changes for the Man of Steel – and the rumors come from a very reliable source. In December 2019, DC stunned everyone when they removed Superman’s facade and revealed Clark Kent to the world. Now we hear they are about to make him the leader of The Authority.

This is big news because The Authority is the superhero team that promises to “get the job done by any means necessary”. They rose from the characters of Wildstorm’s Stormwatch and of course, don’t align with Superman’s nice guy persona in the least. Superman’s principles will be tested as will the tolerance of government leaders who are already becoming distrustful of the Man of Steel.

And that’s not even the biggest news. The report says Superman’s new role may lead to a major change in Superman lore. It is believed an arc will come into play where Clark Kent’s son, Jonathan Kent, becomes the new Man of Steel while Superman is transitioned into an old man.

Hey, you can’t say DC won’t shake things up to keep everything fresh. What do you think about the rumor? What do you think about the rumored changes? Will Superman use a cane?
