Palantir Technologies and Microsoft Corporation today announced a key advancement in their partnership to deliver advanced and secure cloud, AI, and analytics capabilities to the U.S. Defense and Intelligence Community. This unique, integrated technology suite will enable critical national security missions to utilize Microsoft’s top-tier large language models (LLMs) via Azure OpenAI Service within Palantir’s AI Platforms (AIP) in Microsoft’s government and classified cloud environments.

Palantir and Microsoft have a longstanding history of operating in secure and accredited environments to provide leading technology for vital U.S. Defense and Intelligence missions. Through this partnership, Palantir will deploy their suite of products – Foundry, Gotham, Apollo, and AIP – in Microsoft Azure Government and the Azure Government Secret (DoD Impact Level 6) and Top Secret clouds. Palantir will also be an early adopter of Azure’s OpenAI Service in Microsoft’s Secret and Top Secret environments. This integrated solution of Microsoft’s Azure cloud compute and powerful language models (GPT-4 and others) with Palantir’s Foundry’s data integration and ontology capabilities and AIP’s use case building capabilities will enable operators to safely and responsibly build AI-driven operational workloads across Defense and Intelligence sectors — from logistics, to contracting, to prioritization and action planning, and more. Service availability is pending authorization and accreditation by the appropriate government agencies.

Additionally, the Palantir Federal Cloud Service, which includes Palantir’s Gotham, Foundry, AIP, Apollo, and FedStart Mission Manager Platforms, is authorized to deploy on Microsoft Azure for IL5 environments.

Palantir and Microsoft are committed to high standards, incorporating responsible privacy standards and ethical AI practices in their technologies. These commitments reflect the shared values of both companies in their product engineering and operational approach to addressing the complex challenges faced by public and private sector institutions when implementing the latest technologies to advance their missions and stay competitive.

As part of this partnership, Palantir and Microsoft will offer the Defense and Intelligence Community bootcamp experiences to trial the technology.
