
Grok just leveled up from snarky chatbot to full-blown digital coworker. SpaceXAI, the SpaceX-owned successor to Elon Musk’s xAI, has rolled out Grok Bot, a public beta for always-on AI “teammates” that are designed to take on real work across the apps and services you already use, not just spit out answers to prompts.
Instead of living in a single chat window, each Grok Bot gets its own persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem, and terminal, effectively functioning like a remote machine dedicated to your tasks. SpaceXAI pitches these bots as autonomous agents that can sign into your existing tools with your credentials, carry out multi-step workflows—like updating tickets, drafting documents, or wrangling spreadsheets—and only surface when they need your explicit approval or when they’re done. The agents can also coordinate, sharing context and passing work between themselves, which makes the system feel less like a single assistant and more like a small virtual team.
Access to this early beta is tightly controlled. Grok Bot is currently bundled into three paid tiers: SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium, with pricing around $300 per month for SuperGrok Heavy, $200 per month for Cursor Ultra individuals, and $120 per seat per month for Cursor Teams Premium organizations. At launch, clients are available on macOS, Windows, and Linux desktops as well as iOS, with Android support listed as “coming soon.” Enterprise customers don’t get instant access; instead, SpaceXAI has opened a waitlist, signaling that larger deployments will follow once the beta stabilizes. Elon Musk has said the company plans to widen the rollout after fixing basic early issues and shipping the Grok 4.6 model later in the week.
Grok Bot also marks the first big joint move between SpaceXAI and Cursor, the AI-powered coding environment SpaceX acquired for about $60 billion earlier this year. Cursor has built its reputation on letting developers work alongside AI in their editor, but Grok Bot pushes that concept beyond programming into broader operational work, from sales ops to support workflows. The agents reportedly started as internal tools inside SpaceXAI, where teams used them to automate recurring tasks across sales, operations, and engineering before the company decided the system was mature enough for a public beta.
For the broader AI industry, Grok Bot lands squarely in the emerging “agent race” for the office. Business-focused offerings like ChatGPT Work, Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, and Microsoft’s Copilot for enterprise are all trying to move beyond one-off chat responses toward systems that can live inside company tools and handle ongoing work. SpaceXAI’s pitch is that Grok Bots are more like durable teammates than ephemeral assistants, with persistent machines, scheduled routines, and shared skills rather than simple prompt-response logs. Still, early coverage notes that this is closed-source beta software with no independent benchmarks yet, bundled into pricey subscription tiers rather than a standalone plan, so it will take time to see how well these agents perform under real-world load.
The tradeoff is clear: if you want AI coworkers, you have to be comfortable handing them the keys to your accounts. Grok Bot operates by signing into your existing apps, tools, and websites, which means organizations will need strict policies around credentials, access scopes, and audit trails before letting a fleet of bots roam through production systems. SpaceXAI’s early focus on a narrow slice of paying users and an enterprise waitlist suggests the company knows it has to prove reliability and safety before these agents can become just another member of the team, but for power users living in IDEs, CRMs, and cloud dashboards, Grok Bot is an early glimpse of a future where “assigning work” might mean delegating to a digital crew that never logs off.
