The iconic Barbie Dreamhouse home at 33505 E Pacific Coast Hwy in Malibu, California, has been newly renovated and revamped with Ken’s personal touches for a special AirBnb promotion. While Barbie makes her live-action film debut in Barbie, Ken (played by Ryan Gosling) is giving guests the opportunity to experience his version of the infamous DreamHouse. His love for rollerblading is evident in the new design, but Barbie’s signature pink is still present throughout the house (albeit, she has also made some redecorating changes since the last time the Malibu DreamHouse was available for guests).
Ken explained:
“We all have dreams, and Barbie is lucky enough to have a house full of them. But now, it’s my turn, and I can’t wait to host guests inside these one-of-a-kind – dare I say, one-of-a-Ken? – digs.”
The offer is made in celebration of the release of the highly anticipated Barbie film, directed by Greta Gerwig, written by Gerwig & Noah Baumbach, and starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrara, Kate McKinnnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell. The film is, our course, based on Mattel’s Barbie doll universe.
Ken made an impressive sales pitch for Barbie DreamHouse home special event:
“Welcome to my Kendom! While Barbie is away, she has handed over the keys to her Malibu DreamHouse this summer and my room could be yours for the night. I’ve added a few touches to bring some much-needed Kenergy to the newly renovated and iconic Malibu DreamHouse. Placed perfectly above the beach with panoramic views, this life-size toy pink mansion is a dream come true!
As you probably know, I’m a beach guy – and Malibu is the ultimate oceanfront paradise, with its never-ending sunshine (don’t forget your cowboy hat and sunscreen!), beaches as far as the eye can see, and surf shops everywhere. Nearby, you’ll find every beach activity you could ever dream of: sunbathing, shopping, surfing, and the best boardwalks for roller blading (thank me later). This place is selfie central too, so be sure to snap some photos along the way.”
About the Barbie Dreamhouse in Malibu, California
The home was previously listed on Airbnb in October 2019 for $60 per night as part of Barbie’s 60th-anniversary celebration. The house is just north of El Pescador State Beach in Western Malibu, a beach community known for wealthy residents and high-end homes—neighboring houses to the east and west of the house are estimated to be worth more than $5.2 million. The Barbie house at 33505 E Pacific Coast Hwy is estimated to cost $5.3 million – before Mattel came in and made it up like Barbie’s Dreamhouse. Rental estimate for the house is a mind-boggling $22,071 – per month!
The Pacific Coast Hwy property was purchased in 1995 for $175,000. The house was then built on the property in 2007. The real Barbie DreamHouse is 4,375 square feet with 4 beds and 3 1/2 baths. The home includes maid quarters, a gourmet chef’s kitchen with stainless steel Viking appliances, and magnificent 180-degree ocean and whitewater views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean from Santa Monica to the Channel Islands.

Situated along the stunning, photogenic coastline, the Malibu DreamHouse is a sunny surfer’s sanctuary surrounded by beach, beach and more beach – just the way I like it.
I’ve decked out the place with a little more…well, me! I’m more than just beach! My cowboy stuff is great. And horses! Guitars, games and more. And of course, rollerblades, because I literally go nowhere without them. Now, guests can live it up Ken-style for a neon night in Barbie Land – six-pack not included.
During your stay, you will have the opportunity to live in technicolor by:
- Taking a spin through my awesome wardrobe to find your best beach fit. Look out Barbie, I’ve got quite the closet too!
- Channeling your inner cowboy and learning a line dance or two on my outdoor disco dance floor or performing a sunset serenade on my guitar
- Challenging your fellow guests to a “beach off” with plenty of sunbathing and chillaxing by the infinity pool
- Taking home a piece of my Kendom with your very own set of yellow-and-pink Impala skates and surfboard

These one-night stays are not a contest. Guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Malibu. This home is privately owned and operated.
About the stay
This oceanfront mansion is located in sunny Malibu and provides a great background for Ken’s dreamland. Fans can request to book Ken’s bedroom in the Malibu DreamHouse for two one-night stays for up to two guests each on July 21 and July 22, 2023. All stays are free of charge.
While staying in the DreamHouse, guests can:

- Learn a line dance or two on Ken’s outdoor disco dance floor or perform a sunset serenade on Ken’s guitar.

How to book
Starting July 17 at 10:00 AM PT, anyone in Barbie Land can request to book Ken’s room in Barbie’s Malibu DreamHouse by visiting airbnb.com/kendreamhouse. Guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Malibu.
