WWDC23 highlights

Today, Apple started their Worldwide Developers Conference with a keynote at Apple Park. The keynote was attended by developers, students, and media, and was also viewed by millions of people worldwide through livestream and on demand. Apple Vision Pro is a spatial computer that offers a fully three-dimensional interface controlled by using a user’s eyes, hands, and voice. Vision Pro features visionOS, the world’s first spatial operating system, which allows users to interact with digital content as if it is physically present in their space.

Making iPhone More Personal and Intuitive

iOS 17 includes updates to Phone, FaceTime, Messages, and more, which allow users to express themselves, share content or contact information, and view information easily with the StandBy feature. Additionally, Journal is a new app that helps users to reflect and practice gratitude, and focus on their wellbeing.

iOS 17 also upgrades the communications experience with Contact Posters, a new stickers experience, Live Voicemail, and other features.

The new Mac Studio offers powerful performance and extensive connectivity in a compact form that sits on your desk, allowing professionals to create their desired studio setup. The M2 Max and the new M2 Ultra provide a significant improvement in performance compared to the previous generation and a substantial upgrade for users upgrading from older Macs.

Bringing PCIe Expansion to Apple Silicon

Mac Pro, now with M2 Ultra, has the power of Apple’s most advanced chip and the ability to use PCIe expansion. The Mac Pro is the final transition to Apple silicon for all Macs. Combined with other pro systems from Apple, the Mac Pro lineup is the most capable and powerful set of pro products available.

A Milestone Update for Apple Watch

watchOS 10 introduces a new interface to Apple Watch, making it easier for users to view information with redesigned apps, relevant widgets displayed in a Smart Stack, and new watch faces. Additional features have been added to help cyclists and hikers track their activity. The Mindfulness app also allows users to log their emotions and moods discreetly and conveniently.

Taking iPad Versatility to the Next Level

iPadOS 17 introduces new ways for iPad users to customize the Lock Screen, interact with widgets, and communicate through Messages and FaceTime. The Health app now includes interactive charts on iPad, and HealthKit empowers developers to create innovative experiences tailored to the iPad display.

An Elevated Mac Experience

macOS Sonoma introduces a variety of features to improve the experience of the world’s most advanced desktop operating system. Among these features is the ability to place Widgets anywhere. Additionally, Gaming on Mac has been enhanced with the introduction of Game Mode, which optimizes the gaming experience.

macOS Sonoma provides a superior Mac experience, with more options for customization through widgets, significant updates to Safari and video conferencing, and exciting new game titles.

FaceTime Comes to Apple TV 4K

Apple TV 4K users can now use FaceTime on their TV with tvOS 17. This feature will allow users to have engaging conversations with family and friends. With Center Stage, the screen will keep everyone in the room perfectly framed, even as they move around. Additionally, Split View lets users enjoy watching shows or movies while also seeing everyone on the FaceTime call during a SharePlay session.

Transforming the Personal Audio Experience

The upcoming software updates this fall will bring new capabilities to the second generation of AirPods Pro, making it easier to use in different environments and interactions. Three powerful new features will be added, including Adaptive Audio, Personalized Volume, and Conversation Awareness. The entire AirPods lineup will also have new and improved features that will make calls and Automatic Switching even more seamless.
